Optimizing the Performance of MS Windows - 1

Tips to increase the speed of your MS Windows workstation:

Tip #1:
Adjust MS Windows for best performance:
  1. Right click on My Computer icon.
  2. Click on the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Settings button related to Performance.
  4. You can check near Adjust for best performance but then the edges of the screen fonts will appear pixelized. Therefore, it is better to check near Custom and remove all the check marks and leave only the one near "Smooth edges of screen fonts."
  5. Click OK twice to close all the windows.


Tip #2:
Uninstall programs that you don't use.
  1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel
  2. Click on Add or Remove Programs
  3. Uninstall/Remove all the programs that you don't need or use.

Tip #3:
  1. Make sure that your system is not infected with adware and spyware. To clean your system, you can use for example:
    1. Spybot-S&D
    2. and Ad-aware etc.
  2. Make sure that you have an up-to-date functioning antivirus. You can use free antivirus software such as:
    1. Avast
    2. or AVG etc.
